new insulated glass units have sucker cup marks

Can anyone help me. Just had these wood casements reglazed by local glass shop and a number have a sucker cup type mark on them. Shop says not a problem and that they will spray on a CR Laurence surface protector and that this will fix the problem!

Any thoughts from anyone.

Cheers

Tony,

Suction cup marks are caused from the change in surface chemistry. When a suction cup is used, it dehydrates that area of the glass.

They are suggesting a coating so it will sael the glass and the suction cup area will react the same as the surrounding area, which will work.

BUT, this is only a quick fix and will need to be re-applied over time.

Sorry and good luck,

Dan,
Is this the only thing to resolve the problem?

Steve,

Another suggestion would be to polish the area with the marks. This might lesson the difference between the two areas.

We have scratch removal systems that have resolved this issue on some marks, but the the systems are costly, $3500.00.

I would suggest trying the lessor expensive option, glas sealing.

Good luck,
